Decadence® Lemon Meringue False Indigo

We all love a little decadence in our life whether it is expensive champagne, delicious mouth-watering chocolate or a fabulous plant. Decadence Lemon Meringue False Indigo is that plant. A tall, showstopper in the garden, her buds are a dusky purple opening to a soft, buttery yellow flower reminiscent of sweet pea flowers. Think of her flowers as a twofer, purple and yellow both at the same time. And when it is done blooming it has wonderful peanut-shaped seed pods giving it another seasonal feature. Besides the flowers and seed pods, the foliage is very attractive since it has a distinctive blue color to them. What more can you ask for? This is a great plant that attracts all kinds of pollinators, even the tiny ones you cant always see. False indigo is unique in the fact that it is one of the few perennials that has a tap root making it a long-lived plant in the garden that stands up to cold and heat. Decadence Lemon Meringue False Indigo Care Decadence Lemon Meringue is hardy from Zone 4a 9b making it a plant for almost anywhere in the country. It is deer resistant, which is always a bonus but drought tolerant as well once it is established. This is a plant that doesnt care about soil either so just average garden soil will do just fine. It never seems to be bothered by insects or disease either making this pretty much a no brainer plant too. Decadence Lemon Meringue False Indigo Spacing Use Decadence Lemon Meringue in the back of the garden and use the foliage as a backdrop for other perennials in front of it. It is a tall plant, easily 2 ft-3 ft tall and just as wide so give it some space.
