Helleborus x ericsmithii 'Champion', also known as Lenten Rose or Snow Rose, has beautiful pink buds that open to creamy-white flowers with yellow stamens that are contrasted with dark green foliage. Gold Collection® Champion Helleborus is a low-maintenance, hardy perennial in zones 4-9. With evergreen foliage, this prolific bloomer has an upright, clumping habit, reaching 15 inches tall and 2 feet wide. Unlike other hellebores, its flowers face upward and forward for all passerbyers to enjoy. Gold Collection® Champion is native to European mountain forests and prefers shade. It is an easy groundcover, good for containers, and great for garden borders with its lower height. This Gold Collection® is deer and rabbit resistant. Gold Collection® Champion Helleborus Care Gold Collection® Champion Helleborus prefers full sun to shade. It likes well-drained soil that is rich and fluffy, and does not tolerate wet feet. Do not get impatient if your hellebore does not flower the first season, as they take a few years to establish prior to blooming. Gold Collection® Champion Helleborus is not a heavy feeder; fertilize only once a year in the early spring with a balanced fertilizer or add compost. Gold Collection® Champion Helleborus requires minimal pruning. After flowering, the foliage remains evergreen throughout the season adding interest to the garden all year round. In early winter, remove any damaged or dead leaves from the plant prior to flowering and its emergence from dormancy. Gold Collection® Champion makes great cut flowers; flower stems can be cut and submerged in boiling water for prolonged vase life. Space plants 16 – 20 inches apart for mass plantings. When planting and spacing, keep in mind that the foliage remains throughout the season, so allow adequate space among other perennials in the garden.
