Pothos is scientifically known as Epipremnum aureum, with many cultivars to choose from. NJoy Pothos is a smaller growing variety that is highly variegated with splashes of creamy white along the margins of the leaves. NJoy requires more light than other darker-leaved varieties but is still as easy to care for, making it perfect for novice houseplant gardeners.Best Locations For Growing NJoy PothosNJoy Pothos can be grown in any location with enough light and space for the sprawling branches to meander. Rooms that are naturally humid, such as bathrooms and kitchens, are perfect for NJoy. This Pothos will also adjust to growing in lower humidity as long as the temperatures can be kept above 68 degrees F. Keep this plant away from drafty windows and doors or direct exposure to heating and air conditioning vents. Pothos is toxic to pets and should not be grown where the plants can be eaten.NJoy Pothos Sunlight RequirementsThe heavy variegation of NJoys leaves makes it more tolerant of higher lighting than the solid-colored cultivars. Indirect bright light will keep the leaves healthy and glossy. Lower light levels can be tolerated for some time, but when the leaves begin to grow smaller with less rich coloring, the plant needs to be put back into brighter light or exposed to artificial grow lights.NJoy Pothos CareThe perfect potting soil for NJoy Pothos is one part indoor potting mix, one part perlite, and one part fine orchid bark. This mixture will ensure good drainage and moisture retention. Repotting should be done in the spring to refresh the soil. If roots grow from the bottom of the pot, go up one pot size. Moving Pothos up too many pot sizes at repotting will increase the risk of overwatering. Routine pruning is not necessary for NJoy Pothos, but stems that are growing in the way can be cut off just below a leaf node. These cuttings can be grown in a jar or vase of water until roots develop. When the roots are a good size, pot the new plants in a potting mix.Watering NJoy PothosPothos prefers to stay evenly and consistently moist but not waterlogged. Watering should be done after the top 1-2 inches of soil have dried to the touch. Water the pot until liquid drains from the holes. Remove any standing water in the saucer after 15-20 minutes.Feeding NJoy PothosA balanced houseplant fertilizer should be applied once a month during the active growing seasons of spring and summer. Use a diluted liquid fertilizer and apply it instead of watering. Fertilizing is not necessary during the winter when Pothos stops growing temporarily.
