Red Ripple Peperomia is also known by the name Radiator Plant and is native to tropical regions of Central and South America. The deeply-colored garnet leaves are juicy and deeply textured, making for a dramatic-looking plant. This succulent plant requires minimal maintenance and is perfect for beginning gardeners.Best Locations For Growing Red Ripple PeperomiaPeperomias make excellent specimen plants on a shelf or a table where the leaves can be inspected and admired. Red Ripple can also be used in a terrarium planting or as part of a succulent collection display. All parts of Peperomias are toxic and should not be grown near pets or children.Red Ripple Peperomia Sunlight RequirementsPeperomia prefers indirect bright light but can grow well in lower light levels. An east- or west-facing window is perfect. Red Ripple would also grow well across the room from a south-facing window. Red Ripple Peperomia CarePeperomia is so easy to care for that watering and sporadic pruning are the only maintenance tasks. As the plant matures, the older stems and leaves will die back and should be removed as soon as possible. Dead plant debris left in the pot can attract pests and cause the rotting of other stems. Repotting is only needed when roots begin to appear from the bottom of the container. Use indoor potting soil mixed 1 to 1 with fine orchid bark for excellent drainage and moisture retention.Watering Red Ripple PeperomiaLet the top 2-3 inches of soil dry out between waterings. Peperomia is a succulent and retains moisture in its leaves, making it a drought-tolerant plant. Red Ripple will also benefit from extra humidity when the moisture level in your house falls to 40%. A cool mist humidifier or pebble tray placed under the pot will keep the humidity around the plant high. Misting with distilled water is another method for adding humidity. Do not use tap water, as this will leave white marks on the leaves from the added minerals and salts.Feeding Red Ripple PeperomiaThe best way to deliver a consistent level of nutrients is to use a slow-release houseplant fertilizer mixed into the potting soil at repotting time. Look for a formulation for houseplants or succulents and follow the recommended dosage on the label. Watering releases nutrients into the soil in an even dose.
