Scarlet Flower Carpet Rose

Scarlet Flower Carpet Rose is an exceptionally easy rose to grow with high reward. Also known as Rosa Flower Carpet Scarlet, this is a new introduction in the Flower Carpet® line. It puts out masses of scarlet-colored flowers from spring to frost. The flowers are semi-double blooms that appear in large clusters. The shiny dark green foliage is dense and bushy, and will not require any treatment for black spot or mildew. It develops showy red fruits (hips) in late fall. This is a hard-working shrub that requires little attention from you.

Scarlet Flower is a low-growing shrub, reaching 2 – 3 feet high and spreading to 3 - 4 feet wide. It is a multi-stemmed deciduous shrub with a round, mounded shape It was bred for increased disease resistance and improved heat and humidity tolerance. Use it to edge garden beds, pathways, and property lines, or plant it in large containers for instant curb appeal.

It is not particular about soil type or pH, although it does not tolerate waterlogged soil. Water it regularly during the growing season, and it will develop drought tolerance once the roots are established. Fertilize in the spring with a balanced, slow-release formula, and topdress the root zone with organic compost. Cut this rose back by one-third of its size in early spring. Remove any dead or broken branches throughout the year to keep the shrub healthy.
