Wee Bit Innocent™ Hydrangea

Size

The Wee Bit Innocent™ Bigleaf Hydrangea is compact but still delivers big, showy blooms. This Hydrangea macrophylla 'SMNHMC' is a mophead variety that boasts unique double blooms in shades of pastel pink, purple, and blue, depending on the soil pH. Enjoy the large flower clusters in the summer and again in the fall when this beauty reblooms. The large flower clusters engulf the shrub, and dark green foliage with serrated edges fills gaps between the blooms and provides a lush appearance. The mounded form of the Wee Bit Innocent™ Bigleaf Hydrangea is naturally rounded and the perfect size for a foundation planting or to border a deck or patio. Line a walkway or driveway and enjoy greenery and flowers while maintaining visibility throughout an area. Trim the flowers to use in fresh or dried arrangements. The Wee Bit Innocent™ Bigleaf Hydrangea is deer resistant and grows in zones 5 through 9. Wee Bit Innocent™ Hydrangea Care Choose a planting site in part shade to full sun. The Wee Bit Innocent™ Bigleaf Hydrangea prefers fertile, moist, and well-drained soil. Flowers are pink in alkaline soil and blue in acidic soil, so test the soil and adjust the pH if you desire a specific color. Keep the soil moist, especially during an extended dry period. Fertilize in early spring and again in late spring to promote abundant flowering and encourage a second flush of blooms. The Wee Bit Innocent™ Bigleaf Hydrangea blooms on old wood, and pruning at any time of the year impacts flowering. Little if any pruning is recommended. Remove dead or damaged growth after new growth appears, and you can confirm which branches are not alive. Wee Bit Innocent™ Hydrangea Spacing The Wee Bit Innocent™ Bigleaf Hydrangea stands 24 inches tall and 30 inches wide. Space shrubs 30 inches apart to create a continuous hedge or mass planting.
